This film is by far one of the cleanest teen movies I’ve seen, which is a major plus in a world constantly pushes the f-bomb and promiscuity in movies for younger audiences.

I’ve loved this movie since the first time I watched it as a freshman in high school, and still adore it into my mid-twenties.
Because the word is easy to miss, I feel girls ages 10+ can safely watch this movie. I honestly didn’t catch it until the second or third time I watched the movie. There is no foul language in the film, with the exception of Tami (Mary’s best friend) saying lame-a** quickly during a rant. While there are some slightly suggestive jokes, the characters only kiss and it is not hinted that the characters ever go further than that. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a sweet teen romance with clean content, you might enjoy this movie. Twelve years after the film’s release, I still listen to some of the songs from time to time. Most of the songs are performed by Gomez and Seeley, who both have music careers outside of the film.
